  Southern Insight are very pleased to welcome Sharda Rogell back to Christchurch.  Sharda has been an insight meditation practitioner and teacher since the 1970s and has a wealth of experience and skill in the insight tradition.  She is well known for her non-residential workshops which are a wonderful opportunity to integrate life and practice.
  
  This one-day event will include a mix of silent practice along with time for discussion and interaction. We will allow space to open to our immediate experience while building our sense of sangha / community. The teachings and practices will be relevant to the way the earthquakes have impacted people's lives in the past year and a half. We will explore ways to relate to experience with the Buddhadharma as the central viewpoint.
  
  Cost : $25 (this covers basic expenses of the workshop. Dana (donations) will be taken for the teacher at the end of  day.
  
  Registration: Spaces are limited so please contact Paul on 381 0444 to register, or e-mail Southern.Insight.Meditation@gmail.com  with the words "Register for March workshop" in the title.
  
  Lunch: Pot-luck vegetarian - please bring something to share. Hot and cold drinks will be provided.
  
  What to bring: Cushions and mats will be provided. Bring shawl/blanket for sitting and suitable attire for walking outside.
  
  Information about the teacher:
  
  Sharda has been practising and teaching Buddhist insight meditation for over thirty years, and is one of the guiding teachers at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in northern California near her home. Her primary interest is in the integration of the awakened heart with embodied presence. She has been influenced by the non-dual teachings of Advaita and Dzogchen, and she is a long-time student of A. H. Almaas in the Diamond Approach.

After the highly successful visit by Eric Kolvig to New Zealand earlier in 2011, Southern Insight has invited Eric back to run our spring retreat in 2012. Eric is an Insight teacher with over 30 years experience who has specialised in bringing dharma to times of trauma in people's lives.

SITTING GROUP SCHEDULE

We have a new format for meeting together at our Wednesday night sitting group.  We will alternate between meeting at Ferndale School and the Opawa Zendo. The evening starts at 7.30pm and runs through to 9.15pm. 

 First Wed:      Normal sitting group  - Ferndale School

Second Wed:  Normal sitting group – Opawa Zendo

Third Wed:    Talk/Facilitated Discussion  - Ferndale School

Fourth Wed: Normal sitting group – Opawa Zendo

 

If there are five Wednesdays in a month – the default for the 5^th Wednesday will be Ferndale School.

The Opawa Zendo is located at 4 Kennedy Place, Opawa on the corner of Opawa Rd opposite the Hillsborough Domain.  Parking is limited on Kennedy Place, so please park in the Bremca Ltd carpark at 10 Kennedy Place.

Meditation Group at Diamond Harbour

The Diamond Harbour Insight Meditation group sits every
Tuesday, 6:30-7:30pm, at 7a Whero Ave.

We begin with a 45 minute sit with recorded meditation instructions, suitable for both beginners and more experienced meditators, and then share a cup of tea.
